Entrance Exam
Worsham College wants you to be successful in your coursework. The college utilizes the nationally recognized ACCUPLACER tests of reading and mathematics as criteria for acceptance into the accelerated online program. This exam is required for online students that do not meet one of the following admission requirements:
- Graduate from high school in the top 25% of graduating class; OR
- Completed 12 non-remedial college credits from a regionally accredited college with a cumulative GPA greater than 2.0; OR
- SAT combined score of 1000; OR
- ACT composite score of 20.
ACCUPLACER scores determine a student’s readiness for college-level courses. Our goal is to ensure proper placement into the online program based on your academic readiness. There is no charge to take the ACCUPLACER test (up to 2 attempts). Test results are valid for two (2) years.
If a student’s results do not indicate readiness for Worsham, the student is encouraged to take developmental courses prior to seeking admission. The program director will discuss recommended options with the student.
NOTE: This test is only used for students seeking admission to the online Associate of Science degree. All students are required to have some college prior to enrolling in the campus programs.
After completing the admissions application for the online program, you may then schedule your test.
The test must be completed before the student can be admitted into the online program. Remember, this is only necessary should the student not meet the other admission criteria listed above.
The test taker must achieve a score greater than 260 on both the Math (Arithmetic) and Reading Tests.
Yes! We encourage you to prepare for the ACCUPLACER tests using the following resources:

ACCUPLACER Reading Sample Questions (PDF)
Reading and Math (Arithmetic). There are other tests that ACCUPLACER offers, but Worsham does not require those exams.
The test is administered at Worsham College. Arrangements may be made to test at your local community college. However, advanced planning is required for this option.
Applicants who need to take the ACCUPLACER test with accommodations based on their disability should contact the program director by calling (847) 808-8444 to make arrangements.
The testing day will begin with a brief orientation about campus resources and the purpose of the ACCUPLACER.
The test itself consists of two sections: Reading and Math (Arithmetic). Sections are untimed. Most students take anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour per test. If you are taking both tests, plan on spending two (2) hours to complete your testing.
Post-ACCUPLACER advising is provided upon completion of tests. Worsham College staff will provide you with a copy of your score report, review test results, and answer any questions you may have.
You must bring a photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, or school ID are acceptable forms of ID). Bring a positive attitude!
A student might feel that they were not prepared. Sometimes a student might feel that their health was not optimal, thus preventing the successful demonstration of their skills. Sometimes a student feels that the testing conditions were unsatisfactory. For these and many other reasons, retesting is allowed.
Students are allowed one free retest. An applicant can take the ACCUPLACER examination twice within a 12-month period without any fees assessed. Additional retests within the 12-month period will be subject to fees. An applicant will be charged a fee of $10.00 per assessment for any retests within the 12-month period after the two free chances.
There is a 24-hour waiting period between examinations; as additional time to study may be beneficial.
Please call Worsham College at (847) 808-8444 to schedule your exams.
