About
At Worsham, we see your potential and help you turn your passions into action. Our campus programs will encourage and support your personal and professional growth as you prepare for a career in funeral service.
All of your courses in this one-year program will be conducted Monday through Thursday in a classroom at our Wheeling campus. With expert-led instruction, you will expand and improve your skills, competencies, and potential. You will draw on this skill set throughout your life, no matter where you work.
You will take classes and labs throughout twelve (12) consecutive months of study, with a comprehensive curriculum that includes business management, embalming, cremation, funeral service law, funeral arrangements, rites for different religions, sociology, cosmetic application and restorative arts.
Associate Degree vs Diploma
Our campus Diploma and Associate Degree programs share an identical curriculum and, like all Worsham programs, are both accredited. The only difference between the two is in the college classes taken prior to coming to Worsham.
In order to obtain the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree, students must transfer 12 additional credits from a regionally accredited college in the following specific courses: English 101, English 102, Biology, and Humanities. Students seeking the AAS Degree typically do not have an existing degree prior to enrolling at Worsham and are seeking to improve their employability by obtaining a college degree.
The Diploma is still accepted everywhere but does not require that the student transfer specific credits from prior college to start at Worsham. This makes it an ideal option for students who already have a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, and are simply looking to obtain the training and credentials necessary to start their career in funeral service.
